A few days ago I had the pleasure of working with a small group of student teachers who are part of the Teacher Education Program at Dominican University of New York in Orangeburg. They will be beginning their teaching careers this spring. What’s exciting is being able to provide them with some additional tools which I hope will be helpful to them as they encounter students who react to situations and people.
The Anger Management Power (AMP) Program, represents one approach to violence prevention. Working with these students was exciting and rewarding. The pictures accompanying this post show them participating in a role play, involved in discussion and observing one of the tools provided in this program.
I look forward to presenting this workshop to others who are also part of teacher education programs, as well as to those involved in other disciplines which touch the lives of youngsters.
By learning how to manage anger, as well as other intense emotions, youngsters are provided with the tools which enable them to be in control of their behavior, rather than reacting in such a manner in which they can harm others, or themselves.
I AM PROUD TO BE PART OF THIS EFFORT!!!
