To Do Or Not To Do – Decisions, Decisions, Decisions?????
For so many people making decisions raises their anxiety levels tremendously. The question, “Did I do the right thing?” causes this doubt. This heightened state creates chaos rather than providing peace over the choice made. What needs to be done to achieve a state of calm over this judgment? I am sure many of you have your thoughts on this subject. They are ideas I’d like to find out about. However, until I hear from you, here are a few thoughts either bringing down or not allowing this uneasiness to occur.
- Analyzing the pros and cons of each solution to a problem. Take your time if this difficulty doesn’t need to be resolved quickly. If a situation has to be handled sooner than later, look at possible results which may occur, and choose the least harmful or destructive. After making your choice, see how it feels. Do you feel relieved, or do you have serious doubts? If it is the former, make the choice. If it creates a release of tension, smile and be proud of yourself. If not, attempt another path.
- Decisions often are not permanent. After some time has passed, and you still feel unsure, revisit the issue. You can always find another path to take if one isn’t successful. Unless it is a life or death decision, you can reassure yourself it is okay to change your mind.
- Once a path is take, be proud for making the choice and walk away from the situation.
- Easier decisions, for example, food to eat, places to go, etc. which do not result in harming yourself or others, DESERVE LIMITED ATTENTION. If you don’t like the food, or place, you can decide on a different place of food, or place to go the next time your faced with this choice. These and others are no big deal.
Putting situations in perspective is an anxiety reducer and peace provider.
These suggestions are possible remedies to “decision anxiety.” It’s your choice whether or not any, some, all, or none of them are helpful to you.
Try them. You may find the result worthwhile!
